Gooey Brownies

I'm heading to a housewarming party on Sunday, and I volunteered to bring something. Everyone knows how much I love to bake, so I'll be making these gooey brownies.

Chewy Gooey Brownies
(Bet you won't be able to tell that they're vegan!)
Source: VegWeb.com

Ingredients
  • 2 cups AP flour
  • 2 cups sugar*
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in one bowl, and mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl.
  3. Pour the wet into the dry, and mix just until combined.
  4. Pour mixture into an 8-inch square pan that has been greased with vegetable oil and dusted with flour.
  5. Bake 25 to 35 minutes.
* If it's important to keep these vegan, make sure you use beet sugar, Sucanat, turbinado sugar, Stevia, maple sugar, or date sugar. Cane sugar (which is what you usually buy in the grocery store) is processed through activated carbon or bone char, making it non-vegan.
